Russian athletes, who were suspended from international competitions due to the military actions of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, are beginning to change their citizenship. The reason is the continuation of a professional career. Athletes want to continue to compete in world tournaments, and not fight for the championship of Mordor. Such cardinal decisions are supported by the famous Russian figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova.

Most likely, the change of citizenship of her wards will not be a surprise for Tarasova. Serious sanctions have already been applied to Russian skaters, who are always favorites in international strats. Athletes from the Russian Federation were suspended from world tournaments by the International Skating Union (ISU), and now a new package of sanctions has followed.

ISU banned any competitions under its auspices in Russia and thus took away from the aggressor country the stage of the Figure Skating World Cup in the 2022/2023 season. The sanctions also affected Belarus. Corresponding document already published. The reason for this decision is the war of Russia against Ukraine.
In addition to figure skating, all decisions made apply to speed skating and short track.
